Well, I actually edited the code in the main production today, something I haven't done in a while. I am having trouble working a few things out. I need to figure out just what I want to do with my palette for the battle scenes and just how I want to set up the data structures for towns people. I have some general ideas, but before I work the specifics out for some of this, I don't want to edit to much of the actual code.
As for the demo, I ran into a bit of a problem that stumped me. That demo will probably be a few weeks. My musician, Ryan, seems to have gotten extreamly quiet on me... "Ryan? Are you there?" Anyway, I hope he's thinking of some ideas for the demo. This will be the first time I put original midi music into something, I hope it goes fairly smoothly...
The image on the right is Aphillia.. Actually, I haven't even decided if I want one "l" or two (ie Aphillia or Aphilia).. Regardless, she is the main bad woman, the final battle, the omega, the... um.. boss... Anyway, what you should see here, if your browser supports animated gifs (gosh, I bet the Talibah page looks pretty bad in lynx), is one magic attack and the death scene. This was one of the last things Brian did before he left. He hope to be able to do the story scenes for me and mail me the hard copies so that I can scan them. I don't know how well this will work, especially because he has very limited time on his hands for the next two years. I am now looking for someone to finish the monsters.
Well, its getting close to the end of the month. What does that mean? It means I need to get registered for next sememster! Actually, its means that Brian will be leaving soon. We are talking about ways we can still stay in touch, but none the less, he is leaving :(
The image on the right is of my desktop. I tried to show various elements of the game there... You will see artwork for the game, the plot, the html source for the home page, the homepage in netscape, and the source code for the game all layered there. Not really the normal type of screenshot I put up, but I thought it might be a change of pace.
Theresa Dudley is working on Seth as a knight right now. Brian has a few types of Seths to finish up and then I think he plans to do as many monster attacks as he can before he has to leave. He also sent me a title screen that I'm still kinda unsure about, I'll have to play with it. I haven't heard alot from Ryan, I guess he is still pretty busy.
The new TLOT demo is going well. I had an actual animated attack scene, but I cheated when I made it. I want to go back and do it right. I've got all the code there, its more or less a matter of putting it together right!
Ah, yet another weekly update... lets see, what did I do this week. Well, I worked on some new tiles for town maps, but didn't get much done there. I also worked some on the main overworld map, but not much. Ah yes, and then there is the new demo. I've been working on that. I've got the midi working fine, but for some reason it started crashing today...?!?!?... I guess I should figure out why that is... Otherwise, its looking pretty good. I haven't done anything really fantastic, just faded in and out a few pics with some music, and thats all the demo will probably be... but then again, thats what I wanted it to be...
Theresa did the Status Screen image of Phonovan. I decided to have Phonovan join the party near the end of the game. Brian has been sending me a steady flow of artwork as usual. Ryan has been having hell week with midterms. He has also taken over a site I used to run... and I also created it.. called Fantasy Origin. I hope that doesn't keep him to busy to do my music!
The image on the right is of Drudwyn. The one pictured here I am not happy with. I want to sit down with it for a while and clean up some stray pixels. I might just try scaling it down all over again and start cleaning it up again. In case you didn't notice, you can click on the image on the right and bring up a full jpg of him.
Brian continues to send me stuff, Theresa was able to do this image on the right. Brian will be leaving me at the end of this month and Theresa will probably only be able to finish up these stat screen shots as her hand is very bad now. She said that she lost total feeling in her hand as she finished this one up. It makes me feel bad, but you should see how proud she is when she finishes one up! She is very talented and I know it hurts her to loose something as important as her hands...
On a brighter note, I am still working away at the overworld map. Gosh, it takes a bit longer to do those things than I thought it would. A 179x179 map is really pretty good size. I've decided to use a keyboard handler unit I got from Scott Earnest so I will have to stop and play with it a while to learn it up. Lots to do, no time... life is hard.
